I want my students to develop a love for music through high quality and enjoyable lessons. I am able to teach students of all ages, abilities and styles (including exams).

My Teaching Philosophy

I don't just focus on the technical aspects of learning an instrument but on music history and appreciation as well (it's so much easier to play with feeling if you understand the piece first). I believe age should be no barrier to the joy of learning an instrument, and have even taught a few over 55's ! Lessons are conducted from my home studio in Montrose, where I have enough space to hold concerts, giving students the opportunity to perform for family and friends.

My Background

I performed throughout Australia and overseas as a clarinettist and saxophonist with the Royal Australian Navy Band. Following this I undertook replacement teaching with the Education Department. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from La Trobe University and am a fully accredited member of the Victorian Music Teachers' Association. I have also taught at Caulfield Grammar, Ivanhoe Grammar and Aquinas College. My ability to understand and work with young children has seen me teaching band programs at many primary schools around Melbourne.
