At the Corinne Adams Speech & Drama Studio non-native speakers of English who require assistance in mastering the complex systems of English ( which are responsible for foreign accent ) are instructed by means of modern techniques and teaching methods developed by Dr. Adams to meet the needs of the individual student.

Courses for adult students may commence at any time during the academic term and are of 10 weeks’ duration. Further courses may be taken if necessary.

Courses for school children preparing for examinations in Speech & Drama, Effective Communication, and Speech and Performance Theory commence in February and end in November.

The studio is located within 30 minutes of the CBD.

Patricia Cotter is an experienced Speech and Drama Teacher, currently teaching in Kiama on the New South Wales South Coast. She prepares students for both the Trinity College London and A.M.E.B. Speech and Drama examinations and offers tuition to both individuals and small groups. Her teaching focuses on –

  • Verse speaking.
  • Effective Communication.
  • Correction of speech faults.
  • Eisteddfod and exam preparation.
  • Drama skills / creative drama.

Her other experience includes lecturer in community health programs, tutor in health science communications at Curtin University, WA and also presenter of seminars on personal communications to community groups. Patricia is a Registered teacher with the Speech & Drama Association of NSW.

Elaine Hodda, Speech Teacher (A.S.D.A.)1974; (L.S.D.A.) 1984; (A.T.C.L.) 1985. She was appointed an A.M.E.B. Examiner in 1989, and is a member of the Standing Committee for Speech and Drama (N.S.W.). For many years she has been involved with the Parramatta Eisteddfod and is currently Vice President and a Life Member. Elaine has been a speech teacher at Santa Sabina College, Strathfield. for twenty years. As well she has taught in Primary Schools and successfully entered choirs in the City of Sydney Eisteddfod and the Parramatta Eisteddfod. Other activities included play productions, writing original scripts, and preparing large groups for A.M.E.B. Speech Communication exams.

She also conducts lessons for students at her studio at Carlingford. She has been awarded the A.M.E.B. Board Shield (Private Teachers Category) in 1993 and 1994. At present Elaine is successfully preparing students for eisteddfods, grade examinations (theory and practical) to Diploma levels, public speaking, and confidence building. Elaine is an experienced adjudicator of many years standing and has adjudicated throughout N.S.W. and interstate, the most recent being Rockhampton Eisteddfod Qld, Armidale Eisteddfod and Forbes Eisteddfod.

Susanne Harrison has 30 years experience teaching Speech and Drama both privately and in schools. She has junior and senior private pupils, including adults.

Susanne obtained her ATCL (Associate of Trinity College London) in Sydney in 1971. She was the winner of a Silver Medal for poetry speaking from the Poetry Society in London and achieved her LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) in London in 1975. She received the “Award for Excellence in Teaching” from ASCA (Australian Speech Communication Association) in 2007. In addition, Susanne is a four year trained Art Teacher with many years experience teaching Art in Secondary Schools.

As well as her teaching commitments, Susanne is an Eisteddfod Adjudicator and an ASCA Examiner. She is the Assistant Secretary of ASCA, a member of the Speech and Drama Association NSW and a member of the Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland Inc.

Susanne has been preparing students for Trinity College examinations since 1980 and ASCA examinations since 1983. She has been training students for competitions and Eisteddfods since 1980.

Susanne’s studio for private tuition is in Manly, Sydney. The venue for her Corporate clients is their place of work or another suitable training location.

Helen Marchant A.S.D.A. , C.Comm. (ASCA)

Helen Marchant qualified as a Speech & Drama Teacher 20 years ago and since then has operated her home studio for students ranging in age from 5 years to adult, with the majority being aged between 8 and 17 years. She also conducts co-curricular classes at Loreto Normanhurst ( a Private Girls School for boarding and day pupils ) for the past five years. Mrs. Marchant teaches individuals, pairs, small groups, class room students at the local Primary School and has University and other adult students.

She is presently the Honorary Secretary of the City of Parramatta Eisteddfod where all her students compete each year, with the primary aim of building their confidence and developing their skills in public speaking in all arenas.

Mrs. Marchant’s personal motto of “Be Heard! Be Understood! Be Confident! gives a clear understanding of the aims of her teaching strategies.

Angela Tesoriero B.Bus. L.T.C.L. TAE is a leading vocal coach and drama teacher. She gained her LTCL Trinity Teaching Diploma (Speech and Drama) in 1993 and is a member of The Speech and Drama Association. Angela has studied at the Voice & Speech Centre, London; NIDA and the Australian Film & Television School. She also has extensive experience as an adjudicator and Trinity College London Representative.

Angela’s professional experience in the Drama industry lies predominantly in many years of directing, active involvement in theatre groups and working with leading voice coaches worldwide. Angela is committed to delivering high quality programs in schools (including Abbotsleigh, Wenona, Tara and The Kings School), workplaces and the community.

Merryl Lloyd has over 15 years experience as a qualified Speech and Drama teacher in the Private school sector and running private studio’s in two locations in North West Sydney. She has studied Speech and Drama and Voice through Australian Guild Music and Speech, IMEB and School of Creative Arts, Christian City Church Oxford Falls.

She has extensive experience which includes examining throughout NSW for the International Conservatorium Examinations Board, adjudicating at various festivals, eisteddfods and events, preparing and conducting vocal coaching seminars. Merryl has also assisted in directing and performing in non professional productions and teaching and preparing her own students to become the next generation of creative communicators.

Bostan Nurlanov

L.Mus.A. (Piano with Distinction), 2019 World Universities Debating Championship Winner
DEBATING TEACHER

Bostan Nurlanov studied at Sydney Grammar School and then the Australian National University and University of Sydney. He is one of the most accomplished debaters in the world, having won the World University Debating Championships in 2019, the Australian British Parliamentary Debating Championships, and dozens of other competitions. As a debating teacher he has coached the ACT State Debating team, been invited to give seminars in India and China, and coached at the Knox Grammar School in Sydney. He is available for private and group lessons.
