TRUMPET
Andrew Del Riccio M.Mus (UBC) , Grad.Dip.Mus.(Sydney) , B.Mus. , M.Ed.
Andrew holds degrees from the
Universities of Sydney, Western Sydney and British Colombia
(Canada). He has also studied Baroque performance practice at the
Schola Basiliensis in Switzerland, in London and Boston. His
graduate study in education included research into linking jazz
improvisation and achievement in learning technical work for
school students.
Andrew's career has included a mix of performance, teaching and
conducting. He was a casual member (Trumpet) of the Australian
Opera and Ballet Orchestra from 1984 to 1996 and has performed
with many of the major musical organisations in Australia. He was
founder and director of the Blues Point Brass Quintet from 1990
to 1996 and also appeared as a recitalist and soloist with many
of Sydney's community orchestras and recital venues. As a teacher
of brass, he was on staff at the Newtown High School for the
Performing Arts, the Australian International Conservatorium of
Music and Sydney Grammar School, as well as running a private
studio in Ashfield before moving to Canada in 1996. There he
studied conducting in the Opera School at UBC, performed with
various orchestras and ensembles including the Vancouver and
Okanagan Philharmonic Orchestras and was musical director for
numerous premiere performances.
On his return to Australia he took a position Trinity Grammar
School, where he teaches brass, directs various ensembles and
repairs instruments as part of a large and productive music
department. Andrew has an extensive knowledge of the repertoire
and his teaching approach strives to develop students with the
skills to enjoy performing on their instruments. He is also Music
Director of The Mosman Orchestra, maintains an active studio in
Summer Hill.
He still maintains a busy performing schedule including Willoughby Symphony Orchestra (2000-2006), and solo performances with Orchestra 147 and the Bourbaki Ensemble. He has also appeared as a guest conductor for the University of New South Wales Orchestra and Wind Band, North Sydney, Lane Cove Youth and Willoughby Orchestras. At other times he explores NSW coastal waters, researching maritime history as part of The Sydney Project.

FRENCH HORN
Joan Thorp A.T.C.L. (French Horn), A.Mus.A. (Music Theory)
JOAN
THORP is a Sydney-based musician, teacher, conductor and arranger
with 10 years professional experience. To her performing credits
she has an ATCL French Horn Diploma plus State and National
Championship titles from the National Band Association. Joan is
an accredited member of the Australian Music Teachers
Association, The Australian Band and Orchestra Directors
Association and the Music Arrangers Guild of
Australia. She has an A.MusA Theory of Music Diploma and is
the Managing Director of the print music publishing company,
Thorp Music Pty Ltd. Joan conducts several primary and high
school bands plus the professional corporate function band,
Abracadabra. You may call Joan to check on available
