2003 Council Scholarships & Bursaries
FOR THE SENIOR SCHOOL
Applications close on Wednesday 28th November 2001
Scots has one of the most generous scholarship and bursary schemes in Australia, with an average of 20 scholarships and bursaries awarded each year for entry to Year 7 and for some later years. Currently 140 boys in the College are benefiting from this scheme. Applications are accepted from current as well as external students. Our scholarship programme attracts widespread interest with over 250 boys presenting for examination.
Examinations are conducted in November / December and are followed with additional tests and interview for short-listed boys in February. Offers are then made in March for entry the following year. This means, for example, that boys who in 2001 are in Year 5 will sit for the December examination this year. Next year, when they are in Year 6, extensive interviews and selection will continue and awards will be made for Year 7 entry in 2003 .
Council Scholarships are awarded in the following categories:
Academic : for Year 7 , 2003 entry , providing for remission of 50%, 75% or 100% of tuition fees. The level of support is determined by relative performance in the examination. These scholarships are not means-tested.
Music : for Years 7 to 10 , 2003 for boys who have achieved AMEB Grade 3 level or equivalent. These scholarships are not means-tested and are awarded after consideration of results in the examination, auditions and interview.
Dramatic Arts : for Years 7 to 10, 2003 , providing for 50% to 100% remission of College tuition fees as well as all expenses relating to Drama classes. Scots is one of the few schools with such scholarships, which are awarded on a similar basis to Music Scholarships.
Council Bursaries :
Boarding : for Years 7 to 11, 2003 , these means-tested bursaries provide 100% remission of boarding fees for boys entering Years 7 to 11.
