Four music scholarships plus a vocal performing scholarship are offered for students entering Year 7 and Year 10. Each cover 50% of the academic tuition fees and 50% of the music instrument tuition. MLC School Burwood - 2004 Music Scholarships

MLC School has a tradition of musical excellence. It offers a wide variety of ensembles, including a full symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra and two Concert Bands for the enhancement of students' instrumental studies. In keeping with MLC's intent of Transforming Learning it has a ‘School of Composition’ led by Composer-in-Residence, Matthew Hindson. Other composers include Paul Stanhope and Damion Barbeler. The most innovative approaches to teaching music, including state of the art technology, can be found a MLC. Dux of the State 1996 HSC 2/3Unit Music, Dux of the State 1998 HSC 2/3Unit Music, Dux of the State 1998 HSC 2Unit(course 1), runner up to Dux in 1999 HSC 2/3Unit Music and 4th & 10th in 2000 HSC 2/3Unit were all MLC students. Results in the new format 2001 HSC celebrate similar musical successes with all students in Music 1 & Music 2 scoring in the highest band and a Music Ext student scoring a perfect score.

Music scholarships will be offered to outstanding music students entering Year 7 in 2004. They are awarded on the basis of the ACER Scholarship test and subsequent audition. Two, three or four music scholarships are offered annually for part or full reduction of College tuition fees and also for music tuition fees. Entry to Year 7 or later years considered .
